The Forsaken Victims of a Handsome Monster
Look at these pictures. What words come to mind? What thoughts or feelings do they provoke? For many, fleeting mixed emotions of sadness and anxiety because they are dead and remain voiceless. Many with bright futures ahead. When these women and girls unknowingly got into a car with a man they assumed was harmless because he was good looking and well-spoken. He often wore a sling or a cast on his arm to lure unsuspecting young women and girls. They pitied him, so at that moment the psyche of the women and girls remained frozen, thus letting the instinct to help take over and not run.

Mental Illness Is a Silent Killer
"I feel anxious and sad all of the time I don't know how to make it stop." This is a statement a friend of mine said to me a week ago. I listened quietly as stoic and silent tears fell from her face. She stumbled over her words as she tried to tell me what she was experiencing. Going through my own struggle with depression and anxiety I could empathize. I listened patiently to her talk about what she was feeling. Despite having a good job and a loving family, she just could not help the way she was feeling or what to do about it. However, when disclosing the sadness and anxiety she was feeling, they (her family) couldn't understand. I told her this is not because they did not care, I told her that they may feel a sense of panic and shame and did not know how to help.

Why Missing Children Never Return Home
The Lindbergh Law, The National Center for Missing and Exploited Children and The Amber Alert have all been proven successful ways to return thousands of missing children home safe and alive. Sadly, these methods of locating missing children have been enforced after a child has been senselessly murdered by their captor. However, since the inception of these methods, a lot of cases involving missing children still go unsolved and perpetrators are never caught. What follows are a few possible explanations as to why a lot of cases of missing children have gone cold and unsolved. Leaving the public baffled and heart-broken. Not to mention bringing every parents' and relatives' worst nightmare to life. I hope to provide at least some insight into why and how this tragedy unfolds to prevent such miscarriages of justice from happening again and again. The first second when a child goes missing time is of the essence to make sure that they are found safe and alive, and that their captors are apprehended and brought to justice for their crimes. Crimes against the most innocent of all victims: Children. What follows are a few plausible explanations as to why missing children cases go unsolved despite every exhausted effort by the police, the FBI, the mass media, and the public alike. It seems education and prevention are key to protecting innocent children from predators. To protect their safety and security is more crucial than ever in a world that is dominated by greed, blood lust and political corruption. Kids need to know that predators are everywhere. Online, in schools and in political offices. Call 911 and keep telling until you are believed. If approached by a person who tries to harass or intimidate you, know that this is never your fault and help is available.

Why I'm Glad I Never Made It to Hollywood
When I was a little girl, I always wanted to be famous. Audrey Hepburn and Marilyn Monroe were my heroes. I loved the glitz and the glamor of it all. When I would sit down to watch the Academy Awards every year, I would always think about how wonderful and worry-free my life would be. I would make more money than most make in a single lifetime, which would mean that I would have a great house and I could take care of my family. I would get dressed up in beautiful clothes and wear the best make up money could buy. EVERYONE would love me. Life couldn't get any better than this? Right?.... Now that I am older and a lot less naïve, I have come to realize that this lifestyle has its perks, no question about that; but as soon as I started to discover the dark side of Hollywood, this is why I pray that I will never make it to Tinsel town.

Children and Mental Illness
We make sure our children are fed, clothed, and try to keep them from physical harm. But do we take into consideration their mental health? We often perceive children as innocent little beings who are supposed to be happy all of the time because children don't have to worry about the problems of life like adults. We often assume that children live happy and stress-free lives. As adults, we often wish we could be five again because, as children, we didn't have to worry about paying the bills on time or maintaining a home, etc. However, this could not be further from the truth. Many children suffer from a variety of mental health issues similar to adults. Statistics estimate that one in five children between the ages of six and seventeen years will struggle with and be diagnosed with some type of mental illness by the time they reach adulthood. Most commonly, depression and anxiety. This is why talking to your children openly about their feelings from an early age is crucial for early warning signs of any onset of mental illness.

Is That Snot in My Burger?
With the warmer weather soon on its way, the last thing anyone wants to look forward to is coming home after a long day at the office, only to slave in front of a hot stove to prepare dinner. Eventually, pasta and garden salads lose their appeal and the novelty of eating different salads every day wears off very quickly. Especially if you have kids. Then you may just decide to skip the dishes and take the family out for a cheeseburger and french fries. When you are exhausted from the daily grind at the office and the kids are constantly arguing about what to do to keep busy during the summer months, the last thing on your mind when you pull up to the drive-through window is to show proper etiquette. It may not seem significant at the time, but take a minute to collect yourself before you place an order at any drive-though window. Trust me, you will be glad you did. Keep in mind that the people who work for fast food chains are human beings just like you and I. They may not have a fancy job title but they have to make sure their own kids are provided for. They also probably have a ton of bills to pay and on top of everything else, they are also dealing with the ups and downs of life just like everyone else. So when you feel like yelling or cussing at the person hidden from behind the drive-through window because you are having a bad day; refer back to what I mentioned earlier in this post. Take a deep breath and chill. The cheeseburger and french fries will thank you for your kindness and patience. Not to mention, your insides.
