International Women's Day 2023: A Celebration of Women's Achievements and A Call for Gender Equality
International Women's Day (IWD) is celebrated every year on March 8th to commemorate women's social, economic, cultural, and political achievements and advocate for gender equality. IWD 2023 comes at a crucial moment in history. The world is still grappling with the COVID-19 pandemic, which has disproportionately affected women and highlighted the systemic inequalities and injustices women face in all aspects of their lives. IWD 2023 provides an opportunity to reflect on the progress toward women's empowerment and call for more action to promote gender equality.

March is one of my favorite months of the year. Blame it on my Irish roots. It typically signifies a turning point to spring. I love the color green. And like Valentine’s Day, St. Patrick’s Day is just another way for us to infuse a little joy into our lives. But the best part of all? It’s Women’s History Month.

Being a woman is not all about dresses, dolls, and hair bows. There are so many different classifications of women in this day and age; it is no longer about femininity whatsoever. Hell, it is no longer about gender identification either. Just because a woman was ‘assigned female’ at birth does not mean that is the body she will be growing into. It is a tangled web we all weave.

Feminist discourse is increasingly easy to get involved in. Due to the rise of social media and the internet, anyone can have their say from anywhere. I could be taken as an example of this: sitting in my bedroom, typing away about my opinions on everything. Myself, along with many other teenagers, have found feminist discourse to be interwoven with every type of media- most prominently on TikTok. I know I have a tendency to relate many cultural phenomena back to this app, but (especially for teenagers) the impact it has had on many aspects of life cannot be underestimated.

What's happening Iran has a long history of protests. Election fraud, economic problems, and civil freedoms have all led disputes to flare up throughout time. The heartbreaking Persian lyrics of Shervin Hajipour's song "Baraye," or "Because of," however, depict an exceptional revolution led by women and supported by men that addresses a wide range of complaints. It has come to be known as the revolution's hymn and has touched so many people globally that it caused Hajipour to be released following his detention.

Samara SimsonPublished about a year ago in VivaThe Remote Working Blueprint
Whilst some people swear they remote worked before it was cool, this is commonly new to a large portion of the world. Therefore, humanity are currently evolving this concept and creating the blueprint for this. With that in mind, we should remain conscious that if we aren’t careful about how this gets brought into the world, we will lose the opportunity to evolve working culture in the way it needs to be done. Business still needs to thrive but humans need to be, well, human!
Inequality in education for African girls & women sets them up for a lifetime of turmoil and struggle
Gender equality has only been partially achieved in many countries around the world. As some are working towards achieving goals of incorporating women into positions of power, others are holding them back.
