Ah, winter.

The only time of the year you can layer to your heart's desire without sweating through your once-perfect silk top. Or, at least that's how it is if you live in beautifully-hot Southern California like I do.

Regardless of location, I think we can all agree that fashion in layers truly makes its debut during fall and winter. But how do you stay warm without looking like a marshmallow, and how do you avoid developing icicles while still looking chic enough for that insta-worthy pic?

Parisian Chic.

Get used to hearing this term as the days get colder and the fashion gets cooler.

'Parisian Chic' is the term used to describe the laid back, cool-girl style displayed by Paris natives. The true trail-blazers of the cool-girl movement.

All black is a statement you wanna make. A model off-duty look that'll wow even die-hard color lovers. Values in material keep a monochromatic style from looking flat and keeps your eyes moving.

Menswear jackets. Drape them across the shoulders for a look that says:

"I can slay without even having to fully put on my coat."

A look that promises that you wont overheat during the day, or freeze during the night. Let's avoid grasping for the boyfriend's last-year ski jacket and ultimately ruining the whole look. Leave it draped and you'll be ready for anything.

Don't be afraid to ditch the skinny jeans for a day! Mules and loose street-wear clothing makes for a laid-back yet incredibly chic look while staying comfy.

Wear them with a sweater underneath to stay warm without making your figure look bulky. Roll up your sleeves for an on-the-go-but-not-worried-about-it look.

Long jackets and sweaters give the freedom of wearing a plain t-shirt or long-sleeve underneath for warmth, while still looking cool and put together.

Now if you want to take this layering game to the next level, you can bring it back to the nerdy-style days and add a button up shirt under that sweater.

But don't worry, with these Parisian Chic elements you'll look far from nerdy.

Wear a pair of faux leather pants in-between a sweater and slouchy suede boots to create that sandwich look of matching contrast. This is a look that can take you from coffee with friends to dinner with the 'rents. Fashion-forward, but casual.

You won't get scolded for leaving that shirt untucked around here.

Now that we understand some elements of the streetwear looks that can help you to achieve your best I-woke-up-like-this style vibes, lets take it up a notch and introduce BOLD into the mix.

With a few simple statement pieces you can go from I-woke-up-like-this to: "WHO RUN THE WORLD" in minutes.

Bold is a state of mind, first and foremost. Your confidence will always be your best accessory.

But a little drama in the form of fashion never hurt.

Take that all black style and add a lipstick red faux fur coat and you'll be swinging heads in no time. Kick it (literally) up a notch and add the same kind of bright red boots and you'll kill it. (Not literally).

Faux fur coats can be such a simple yet eccentric way to look like you just walked off the set of a Dior photoshoot.

They're comfy, they're warm and they look super high fashion.

Fur coats can be worn in a variety of ways. Throw one on over a simple pair of jeans and a t-shirt while you're running out to brunch and you'll look like you have a personal stylist living in your closet.

With a statement jacket like this, you can get away with that post-party-bed-head and borrowed t-shirt.

Fur jackets are timeless. They're a way to look ultimately chic while maintaining a level of class even your mother would admire.

Timeless, elegant, and simple. Pair a LBD with a contrasting color fur and that's all the accessories you'll need. (You can sigh in relief, I did too).

For a party look that'll turn heads chose something like a complete baby blue outfit that's as sleek and cool as your personality. Let the fur do the talking.

Luxury must be comfortable, otherwise it is not luxury. -Coco Chanel
