The Makeup!

Make up is my favourite part to a night out cause it can make or break your look. It can transform you into looking different from the person everyone sees every other day. People can look at you and just be like damn she is hot! That’s the goal every night you go out to have one person make that remark. For this we will talk about the things we notice that you should not do, then I will go into a step by step breakdown on how I do my usual look which is a dark smoky eye with a killer cat eye wing and a nude lip. Yes you can do a million looks with makeup but, I know this look works so I want to share it with all of you.

Now, too many times we see girls walk into the bar and we can tell they are wearing 100 layers of makeup, it’s just not appealing. Ladies, when applying makeup make sure the foundation is the right shade for you or as close as you can get. If it is too light, then you look like a ghost no matter how much bronzer or contour you may use. Too dark, and you look like you have gotten a bad tan. Also, the other important thing is to blend the foundation to your ears and neck so this way your face isn’t a different colour from the rest of you. The point of makeup, minus eyes and highlight, is to enhance the natural you, just to cover up any imperfections and discolorations.

Another big no is packing on the contour. For contour you do not need a huge dark line under your check bones to try to define them, this just looks awful and so unnatural. The point of contour is to slim the face, and make certain areas sharper than others. For this it needs to be noticeable but subtle in a sense. For the best way to achieve a nice contour, buy a contour kit from any makeup store or just get a concealer a shade darker than your normal concealer and it will give you are great natural look. There are girls who we see out with just a huge line down the sides of their face, and honestly it does not look great. Always be sure to blend out any and all products so that your make up looks flawless! For tips on how to do all this watch some YouTube experts cause that isn’t one of us.

The next thing that we would typically advise against is wearing any bright, bold lipstick unless you know it is going to last all, night long. Why you may ask. This is why we advise against it. 1. It makes wearing a white shirt impossible unless you want it to get stained. 2. It will smudge and end up going all over your face. 3. You have to reapply it so many times for it to stay looking perfect and not wear off your lips after every drink you have. 4. It makes kissing anyone difficult because that person won’t want to get your lipstick all over them, and let’s face it, that means you will need to fix your lipstick afterwards. When it comes to lips try to stick with a natural looking lip because it is just soo much less work than any bold look. If you wanna rock a bold lip we are not saying do not do it. Just try to find a very long lasting liquid to matte lip because those can last a long time as long as they dry down.

Now, the best part in my mind, I will be telling you about what I do for makeup on a typical night out. I personally always start with eyes because with all the fallout from the eyeshadow I do not want that mixing in with my foundation and leaving marks on my face. My typical eye look is pretty much a dark smoky eye with half the lid being a lighter colour or a shimmer shade to make my eye have a sexy look to it. For me I use the Naked 2 palette by Urban Decay. I sometimes will smoke out my bottom lash line but I don’t really feel as though this is necessary every night. Now this is a relatively easy eye look to do and you can’t really go wrong with it because you can always smoke the eye out with whatever colour you would like. It can always look different every night you go out. Now weird thing is that I leave my eyeliner for after the rest of my face is down, this was nothing gets on the eyeliner so it stays pitch black. For primers I use a couple of different one depending on how my face is. I have combination skin so certain days it is oily and other days its dry so I have primers for both occasions. When it is oily I usually use the Blemish minimizing primer from ELF as it helps keep my oils at bay. If my skin is more on the dry side I use the Rimmel Matte finish primer as it has some moisture in it that helps my skin at the end of the night. While I let the primer get tacky, I always go dampen my beauty blender cause this way it doesn’t absorb as much of my foundation.

For foundation, I use a combination of 2 products; I use the L’Oreal Infallible Pro Glow foundation mixed with the Maybelline Fit foundation. This combination is great because it gives me the full coverage I want but also, since the Pro Glow foundation has some luminosity to it my face doesn’t look flat since the Maybelline foundation is a matte finish. Once all of my foundation is blended out I then go for my concealer, for this I use Urban Decay’s Naked because it has the most coverage for the best price. I use this under my eyes, anywhere I have any blemishes, on my smile lines, forehead and over my nose. Once I blend that out I use some setting powder by Laura Mercier and I set everywhere that I applied concealer so this was it stays put and all of my discolouration and keeps my oils at bay.

Once this is done I go in with a powder contour and I use Tartest Pro Glow palette that has great cool tone contour powder which is perfect for sculpting out the cheeks. My tip when contouring is to basically make the number 3 on the side of you face, hitting your temples, bringing it down to your cheeks and then sculpting out your jawline. The best way to this is to have an easy hand when going in so this way it is not too dark to start, you can always build up the product. If you went in with a heavy hand to start that’s okay just be sure to take a clean brush with nothing on it and buff it out in circular motions. This way the product will lose some of its intensity and not look as unnatural on your face. Final step with the face is highlight. For this I use the Anastasia Beverly Hills and Nicole Guerriero Glow Kit or the Pro Glow Paltette. I don’t have a particular shade that I use; I just typically mix two of them together and let my cheeks blind. Tip for this is to sweep the highlight around your eye as well so there is a bit on your temples. This way your face looks a bit more balanced and your face doesn’t look as flat since there is some simmer there as well as on your cheeks.

The very last step is for me eyeliner, lashes and lips. For liner I always try to go with a nice bold, pitch black wing. There is no real advice I can give for this as it’s basically considered an art form because it is so tough to accomplish, but once you have the right technique it’s so easy to complete. For this, it comes down to practice, cause that is how I become so good with it realistically. My big thing is that when I do my eyeliner, I want the eyeliner to be pitch black and I personally would rather a pen eyeliner than the other tips because I find I can be more precise with a pen than anything else. With lashes, I just use whatever pair I find where ever that I think look nice. I personally like ones that look kinda natural but bigger and slightly dramatic just to make the eyes look even sexier. With this I like using a clear lash glue, once the lashes are on I touch up the eyeliner, and add some pencil liner to my waterline to bring the eye look all together. Final thing of makeup, lips. Personally I like to use a nude matte lipstick by Maybelline with a nude pencil liner under to make my lips look fuller. The very last thing I do is set my face using the Urban Decay All Nighter setting spray. The trick I learnt from NikkieTutorials on YouTube is that once you spray the setting spray to fan your face for it to dry then it really allows for your makeup to stay perfect all night long.

Quickly, I will talk about hair. 9/10 I just straighten my hair and go from there. Other times I will curl it in large loose curls. Can’t really say anything else on hair because it is not something I focus on. Hair depends really on the shirt you are looking to wear and what you want your hair to be. Personally, I like straight because it’s easy and I don’t have to worry about it once my hair is done. Hair is simple don’t worry too much about hair really because whatever you do to it will get messed up at the bar, just accept that.
