How to Be a Baddie: Series 3

Baddies are royalty and that means they have to dress the part. Not literally though. You don’t need to purchase a crazy expensive tiara or super elegant ball gown. However, they are always put together and fashionable. They are very trendy, but also very unique. Take notes, queens, because I’m gonna share with you what it takes to dress like a baddie!

Have your own style.

It’s hard to explain, but baddies have this skill to look trendy but still maintain a unique style. They can wear a t-shirt and totally own it. They can make worn down sneakers look like the hottest thing ever. They over-accessorize, layer items, make two clashing patterns work perfectly with each other. The possibilities are limited to their imagination! You don’t have to follow the latest trends or go directly by the book. Wear something and make it your own. If you got it, flaunt it, and let the whole world know how fabulous you are!

Clean out your wardrobe.

Starting a style or finding a new one means it’s time to say goodbye to the old and drab. Do a clean sweep of your closest and look for things that you either can’t fit or you're just not into anymore. Donate them to Goodwill, sell them on Ebay, or trash them if you need to. Whatever you end up keeping, hold on to it and see how you can build upon it and make it something new.

Have the Essentials

Have the Essentials: Before you go crazy and blow all your money on cute clothes at the mall (as tempting as that sounds), start small and make a list of the basics. Baddies are no different from everybody else; they had to work their way up to those $100 clothes. Here are some items to help you get started on your fashion journey:

• T-shirts
• Tank tops
• Crop tops
• Sweaters
• Shorts
• Skirts
• Jackets
• Leggings
• Denim (pants, jacket, etc.)
• Sneakers
• High heels (start with one pair)
• Dresses (Start with at least one!)

Start cheap/Work with what you have first.

Before you get that $50 Adidas Tee or $100 Nikes, go easy on your wallet and reach for what’s affordable first. If you already have a pair of sneakers, that’s perfect. If you have a hand-me-down pair of denim shorts, don’t worry about going shopping just yet. If you absolutely need to buy something new, start with the thrift store. They have dozens of clothes to choose from for often over half what they want at regular retail stores. Remember not to rush your style and take time to let your preferences expand and your wallet grow bigger before you go on a shopping spree somewhere crazy.

Have Confidence

You can’t wear a crop top and be shy about it. You can’t rock that mini skirt if you’re constantly trying to cover your legs. A big part of dressing like a baddie is the confidence that comes with. Unlike the clothes that you can buy at the store, all confidence costs you is commitment. If you are absolutely sure that this is the style for you and this is what you want to be seen in, show it. Body language is key. If people talk about you or make unnecessary comments, ignore them. Their opinions are irrelevant and they will only make you feel worse. So walk with your head held high, your back straight and your ears turned away from all the hate!

Don't wear what make you feel uncomfortable.

Maybe you’re shy about your tummy and crop tops aren’t your thing. That’s okay. Maybe you think skinny jeans are too tight. That’s okay. There is no dress code to being a baddie. All you have to do is look good. You can rock those baggy jeans and long t-shirts if you want. It’s totally up to you.
