Four Reasons Why You Should Delete Tinder

For years, we have known Tinder as a means to meet new people. Who knew when it first began in 2012 that it would go this downhill? From murder to sex to bots, Tinder has been slowly but surely declining. Maybe it's time to put your thumb down.

On September 12th, 2012, the internet put forth what became (in my opinion) the most inauspicious dating app of this time. What app, you ask? Why of course, the lovely Tinder.

What started off as an impressively crisp app that was supposed to bring you closer to meeting “the one” or even just making a few new friends quickly became a swipe-happy way to booty call other humans. We didn’t kick off with Moments, but we definitely didn’t complain when they came around in 2014.

However, just a year later, they were gone. There were many speculations as to why Moments had magically vanished. Could it be that Moments vanished because it closely resembled Snapchat? Was it hard for Tinder to regulate thousands of explicit pictures? Who the hell knows?

All I know is that the amount of man meat I saw every day of my life in 2014 on Moments was definitely unsettling. While it seemed super cool to meet new people and maybe find a date or two the bad definitely outweighed the good. Here are some reasons why you should definitely consider putting your thumb down.

1. Tinder Bots

I could never really figure out their purpose, but they were most definitely a huge part of the tinder community. I’m not sure if it was Tinder themselves who created the bots in order to create traffic or if someone else did. However, they definitely existed and they were super creepy. The pics were obvious fakes pulled off Google.

Sometimes genders you chose not to add to your matching qualifications would show up anyways. They weren’t real people catfishing, they were seriously just computer bots. Little internet dwellers here to fuck shit up. It was super weird and I wasn’t fond of it at all.

There are ways to decipher if in fact, you are talking to a bot. A bot will message you about 0.5 seconds after matching with them. Poor or stunted language is also a huge determination. While people can just genuinely lack the intelligence of spelling, basic words in most cases you are just talking to a computer. Sad right?

You think you're talking to illiterate prince charming while all along it's just Sophia in disguise. Most bots are packaged with suspicious links in their bios. Or they "never get on Tinder," and ask you to hit them up on some weird link that I've never had the balls to click.

From pics of celebrities to Photoshopped abs, bots are becoming a huge problem. Some even will ask for your card info or try to talk you into lavish sexual escapades. DON'T FALL FOR IT!

2. Catfishes

There is pretty much a method for determining who is real and who is not. A lot of people can’t get away with catfishing nowadays, however, some slip through the cracks.

If homie says his camera's broken, that’s the oldest lie in the book. If you can drag and drop a picture into Google Images and it pops up, your lil' homie is fake.

If they are asking you for money in the very beginning you are getting SCAMMED. Come on, use your noggin! A lot of the warning signs are completely common sense. Ask them to add you on Snapchat, some people don’t have Snapchat however, so that is not always a full proof way of knowing.

But, if they get hella defensive about you wanting to Snapchat that is suspicious. Ask to meet them in person and watch that motherfucker unmatch you. Seriously, be very careful of catfishes. They are sneaky, yet super easy to catch. Bait them bitches.

3. Over-Sexuality

Basically, not all of Tinder’s occupants are hypersexual fuck bunnies, the defeating truth, however, is that most of them are. This is more of a person to person thing, but for some reason, I guess the world is just incredibly horny.

Sex is a standard part of life, although when your first liner is “I want you to sit on my face so I can wear you like a crown” that’s a bit weird. If you're super into random pork swords and passion purses blessing your screen every day, more power to you.

Others view it as sexual assault and it honestly is. If I didn't ask to see your meat and you show it to me anyway, that is 1000% sexual assault. The only difference is it happens so much that nothing is done about it. It's pretty vomit-worthy.

4. Safety

Now, anyone can hurt you regardless if you meet them on Tinder or not. People these days are super sketchy. While most are genuine there are tons who aren't. There have been reports that Tinder has been linked to over 500 crimes.

Who knows how many crimes went unreported? There could be many thousands every year. People have been murdered, raped, beaten and all because cooky nutjobs have access to a site that could potentially be their victim registry. Things could go wrong on any site. That's why I feel like people should at minimum do a background check on whoever they decide to spend their time with. You just can't be too careful these days.

Tinder led to an experience that left a super bad taste in my mouth. I met someone on Tinder and after nearly a month of knowing him, I was raped by him. You can never be too sure of a person's character. People flip at the drop of a hat. Take time to meet people in more personal ways.

Practically anything and everything is a risk but there are so many ways to stay safe if online dating is something you are thoroughly interested in. There are background checks, social media browsing, putting pictures into google images, etc. Always stay safe. Buy mace, learn self-defense techniques.

Don't ever let anyone mess with you. While I think Tinder is a joke many people will still use it and that's okay. Just be safe and watch out for the bots and protect your passion purse like your life depends on it! Life is too short to get murdered by a stranger or walk through life with a mental scar. Please, be aware of what Tinder is and has the potential to be. Your safety is the most important! Stay safe kids!
