We all know the web is flooded with influencers trying to gain some followers or get some free stuff. It can be hard to sort through accounts and personalities and blogs to find people in a community that are genuine and have unique, engaging content. This is especially true of the plus-sized community on Instagram, which is growing larger by the day. Don’t get me wrong—community growth is a great part of social media and the plus-sized community needs it. But it can be really hard to figure out where to start if you’re looking to find a community online. Look no further—here are some of the most prevalent, interesting, and engaging plus-sized influencers you should be following.

1. Gabifresh

Gabifresh

Gabifresh, the self-proclaimed OG fat girl (she really is), is the holy grail of the plus size community. Gabi originally was studying international relations at Mount Holyoke. She started writing in forums on LiveJournal before she started her personal blog, which amassed followers over the years as one of the first plus-sized style blogs. Gabi has gone from solo blogger to business owner, designer, and model. She’s covered Ebony Magazine, partnered with Playful Promises for her own lingerie line, designs capsule collections for Swimsuits For All annually, appeared in music videos, partnered with several big-name companies, even co-founded a new clothing line—Premme—designing refreshing plus size styles, and more. Gabi is always delivering novel, clean looks to the feeds of her Instagram followers, and it’s definitely worth taking a peek if you’re trying to explore the plus size community. Follow her on Instagram.

2. Roseybeeme

Roseybeeme

I started following Rosey probably a little less than a year ago when I saw her viral post about how expensive bras are for the heavy-chested. She was wearing a gorgeous red gown with a deep red lip and when I looked at her Instagram I was not disappointed. Rosey hasn’t been on Instagram long, but her presence online is growing as we speak. With a bright, colorful feed filled with anecdotes, style tips, and more, Rosey’s page is a sight for sore eyes in an evermore impersonal social media world. Her captions and stories are unfiltered and relatable. Rosey is an actress with a love for improv, a solo photographer, and blogs about fashion, lifestyle, beauty, and travel. Her blog is just as bright as her Instagram. Check Rosey out for some sickeningly sweet summer looks and down to earth conversation in the comments that makes Instagram feel a little more homey.

3. Gracefvictory

Gracefvictory

Grace is a bright, bubbly, self-care loving blogger. Travel to her page, healgrowglow, dedicated to sharing and healing trauma, and you will see just how open and raw Grace’s presence is. Grace lets her followers into her life through her feed and her blog, discussing style (yes, she links her outfits), travel, and beautifully unique bath recipes and more. Grace is a relentless body positive advocate breaking barriers by flouncing around carelessly in bathing suits, partnering with Nike Women, and posting delicate photos of her back rolls. On her blog she writes about everything from her favorite looks, eating disorders, to what being black means to her, her life as a freelancer, updates on her partnership with Nike, and her relationship with exercise. She's also a published author! Check Grace out for some wholesome fat content.

4. Alissbonyt

alissbonyt

Aliss is a plus-sized model and eating disorder advocate who gained lots of popularity through a simple act—getting into her underwear, sitting on her bed, and letting her rolls, stretch marks, and camera do the rest. Aliss shamelessly posts beautiful, unfiltered photos of her body. She is one of the most candid models I’ve seen online, and the world desperately needs more honesty like hers. Not only is she honest in her appearance, Aliss is also honest in eating disorder recovery and relapse and is always engaging with her followers when she’s having a tough go, when she finds a helpful resource, or when she wants to dispel myths about eating disorders. She often does hauls of the styles she’s picked and always has a new bikini or piece of lingerie for your feed. Check out Aliss for some gorgeous content.

Honorable Mentions

While Gabi, Rosey, Grace, and Aliss are established and growing influencers in the plus-sized community, they’re just the tip of the iceberg. Their pages will lead you to a larger community, but here’s an honorable mention list to give you another headstart.

Callie Thorpe is a travel and style blogger who is always posting some of my favorite content on Instagram. She’s blunt when it comes to discussions about bodies which is something I love the most. Follow Callie here for style tips, travel fun, and more.

La’Shaunae Steward is a social media goddess/model of looks and, now, shoes! She just launched a capsule collection with Jeffrey Campbell. Check her page out (she just recently did a cleanse of posts) for more and check her collection out for some thigh high boots.

Bethany Rutter is a writer and influencer, authoring Plus+: Style Inspiration for Everyone (another great resource to find out more about the community). She is a designer as well and just released a gorgeous collection with Navabi Fashion. She’s always posting about her looks, her makeup, and more. Check her out here.

Kendra Austin is always posting shameless saggy belly pics, new looks, and more. Check her out for some fun new styles.

You’ve probably seen Erikalipps on the home screen of Forever21, or Fashion Nova, or some other website you love. It’s because she’s always handpicking and posting the most lovely lingerie, bathing suits, and gingham print everything from popular brands. Check her out here for in-depth reviews and decide what you want to shop for next.

Maybe I’m just completely missing the men's plus-size modeling movement, but Koichi is one of the only male plus-sized models I’ve felt compelled to follow on Instagram. He’s always serving up some clean looks that Fashion Nova Men dream of. Follow him here.

And there you have it! A quick starter guide of who to follow in the plus-sized Instagram world. Thanks for reading, and if you're looking for more make sure to follow me here.
