Cosy Clashing Clarets

This year's trend of clashing pinks and reds converge into to something altogether more seasonal.

Alongside bell-sleeves, blown-out bows, and tassel earrings, the wonderfully vibrant clashing colours of pink and red together were one of this year's biggest trends.

The trend continues, but this time with a more muted, warmer winter feel. Bright reds and hot pinks are less prevalent as cosy winter tones begin to take over, with cranberries and clarets making the look altogether more festive. Seasonal tones and materials add to this as the trend gets transferred into turtleneck knits, suede, and velvet.

Keeping It Cosy

The sumptuously contrasting cranberry tones in this faux fur coat by Mango make it perfect for dressing up, while its short length and deep colours secure its place as an everyday staple.

A completely different winter overcoat and perfectly flattering for any English Rose, this pale pink oversized coat from Mango would be beautiful with muted neutral colours but also perfect for clashing with red tops and accessories.

If subtlety is your thing, this simple maroon unstructured wool coat makes for a beautifully paired back winter staple and, as pictured here, can create an incredibly nuanced nod to the clash with an antique pink layered underneath.

Nothing quite beats a roll-neck cashmere jumper for unrivalled warmth and a sophisticated oversized feel. This sumptuous deep burgundy example is no exception.

Evening Elegance

The trend for oversized detailing and puffed sleeves also continues and this elegant evening dress from Mango has the perfect balance of extravagant detailing and understated simplicity, the perfect little red dress for any yuletide festivities.

More sleeve detailing and a sense of understated luxury from this beautifully versatile day to night slip dress.

There's nothing quite like velvet to convey a feeling of glamour in the winter months. It also gives an added richness, depth and dimension to the colour used, as this beautiful burgundy example perfectly demonstrates.

That velvet depth is shown again in this sumptuous, vintage-feel, antique rose evening gown. It needs hardly anything to dress it up, and adding a little grunge would make a wonderful and richly extravagant daytime dress-down.

An even paler pink creates an ethereal feel in this ruched detail dress, giving the delicate expression of crushed silk.

A feeling of warmth and texture is created by this smart and sophisticated faux suede number.

Meanwhile, this beautiful burgundy dress keeps ruffled sleeves simple with flatteringly narrow wrists and pretty button detailing.

This incredibly versatile pencil skirt in burgundy is a perfect wardrobe addition, both when mixed with neutral colours and when clashed with hot pinks. Be daring and pair it with this hot pink jumper and these otherworldly heels:

Time to Accessorise

Otherworldly was the only word I could think of to describe these incredible fuchsia, stream-lined, ankle-hugging sock-boot heels. An above and beyond statement piece, if you can dare to wear them.

The trend for bold reds and pinks continues into winter with these slightly more chunky booted heels. Their incredible iridescence screams that it's time for a festive party.

Don't stop stocking-up on velvet with this crushed claret clutch.

Tasselled earrings have been another big trend this year, and that continues in conjunction with our clashing reds and pinks. Don't do anything by halves with this oversized pair from Mango.

All of these pieces are from either Mango or Whistles for no other reason than personal style and personal preference. I did look on other sites, but the pieces featured above were all my top picks.
