10 Things People Think Girls Do for Attention

That Are Probably Not for Attention

Girls are not like a book, they are more like a novel series. We are constantly changing everyday. We often get stereotyped as the days go on as well, ranging from "basic (B-word)'s" to "psychopaths" which is actually quite insensitive. We are human just like the guys! Despite what you hear, a few of us actually enjoy football. Some of us even hate putting makeup on, etc. Apart from what makes us different and the same, there are several things guys/boys think us women/girls do for attention. Which in fact, is not for attention. I asked my Facebook friends & others in surveys what guys think girls do for attention. I had quite a few responses and even a list of the women who responded with, "exist" and "literally everything" so here is a list of the top ten things named & an explanation on why it wouldn't be for attention.

1. Dye/Cut/Style Our Hair

Why though? The reason us women choose to do those things is that we want to keep our hair from looking like crap! We also want to keep our hair as healthy as it can be. You can argue that dye kills hair but dyed hair that is properly taken care of is healthier than you think. (Excludes box dying...)

2. Play Video Games

Okay, listen up. There are a ton of gamer girls out there, and video games are not just for men. Truth is us women love a good challenge and we find yelling into the mic stress relieving.

3. Dress Up

Men have this odd fantasy that women dress up in the clothes they do for the men. This is not at all why we dress up. We dress up for ourselves, and to basically show off in public. It's not necessarily for your all's attention, but the public's eye. Get over it. We love to play dress up. And because so many of you men lack taking us out nowadays, we have to dress up whenever we can, which is very little.

4. Read Comics

I have very little commentary on this one. Because women love to read. And who said comics were just for the boys?

5. Get Our Nails Done

Ok, ok, ok. We actually love getting pampered and our nails have nothing to do with you all. And they are not for attention! They're for looks. There is a difference. Also, why complain? Y'all always love the backrubs we give when they are done!

6. Cry

To be honest, we cry because we are emotionally sensitive beings. And any woman that says she doesn't cry, is a liar. But this all depends on the situation. If you yell at us—OF COURSE WE ARE GOING TO CRY! We got feelings you know.

7. Selfies

Men think our selfies are for attention??? Okay, maybe some. But most of our selfies are to either show our makeup skills off, our brand new Tarte highlight, or whatnot. Sometimes it's for the fact that we were feeling ourselves! Don't down us for loving our skin. Truth is, most of us have issues loving ourselves and selfies boost our confidence way up.

8. Silent Treatment

Oh brother. Bless your guy's hearts! We don't want attention when we DON'T WANT TO TALK TO YOU. So stop! We'll talk to you when we're done being upset. We promise.

9. "Fish for Compliments"

Whatever that means. my guess is when we ask if we're pretty or if you like our eyeliner or something. Women love validation. They want you to tell them if something is on point so they can know whether you like it or not or to see if they need to change anything. We are not fishing for compliments here, we are wanting your honest opinions.

10. "Anxiety and/or Depression"

Alright, now on to the toughest and last topic. People can't help it if they suffer from anxiety and/or depression. And I refuse to talk much about this because it's touchy. And why is this questioned? I agree that there are some women who use this for attention and I have seen it, but the real ones will open up to you eventually and when we open up to you, that isn't for attention. We are giving a piece of ourselves to you. As for posting memes and pictures on the topic, maybe we just relate and wanna share? This is the internet after all. If you think our FB is bad, check our Tumblr. Second thought, leave our Tumblrs alone.
