Feminists are among the toughest group of individuals fighting for equality and women's rights — and we need them. They're very passionate in their beliefs and are standing by all women across the world to gain their rights. But did you know that not all feminists are women? It's true! There are male feminists who have the same beliefs and want to gain rights for women. It looks like not all men are non-feminist douchebags, huh?

Male feminists are seen as more openminded and passionate about gender equality in the world, because everyone is (or should be according to some people) equal. What's great about these feminist men is that they're famous. And whenever someone is famous, they have almost everyone's attention — leading people to listen to whatever they have to say.

With this quality these men spread positivity and preach their beliefs about gender equality, hoping others will follow the same road. See which celebrities are famous male feminists.

John Legend

As one of the best singers out there with a voice made out of silk, John Legend is one of the most famous male feminists out there. He has charities to raise funds for the lives of women and women's rights.

"All men should be feminists. If men care about women's rights the world will be a better place."

My heart grew a little more for this one.

Ryan Gosling

The heartthrob Ryan Gosling is one among our passionate famous male feminists. Ever since he had his daughter Esmeralda, he's gotten more into feminism and even became one. Also, those "Hey Girl," memes that continue to flood the internet led him into fighting for women's rights.

"I mean, look, I have very strong female characters in my life," he explains. "I grew up with strong women and the amount of them grows exponentially as time goes on, in my world. And that's my reality. So, I just tend to gravitate towards stories with strong female characters."

Andy Samberg

Who knew Andy Samberg is a feminist? I certainly didn't. When it comes to comedy, he admits that there are female comedians who are absolutely hilarious and criticizes the men who don't think so. And, he thinks those female comedians should gain more recognition for how funny they are.

"It's crazy. Since there have been men and women, there have been funny women... fucking idiot-ass men keep saying that women aren't funny. It makes me crazy. I find it disgusting and offensive every time."

You're now my favorite human, Andy.

Prince Harry

Prince Harry is a true prince for being one of the strongest famous male feminists out there. He's a true gem for delivering a speech in Nepal on women's rights and giving people an education. While he's touched the hearts of many people, my heart is now his.

“Here in Nepal,” he said, “nearly half of all women who are today in their twenties, thirties and forties were married before their eighteenth birthdays. And a little under half gave birth while still in their teens... How can this cycle be broken?”

Can Prince Harry be my Prince Charming?

Ian Somerhalder

If you don't know who Ian Somerhalder is, please Google him up. It's no surprise that he's a feminist since he constantly champions the strong female figures in his life and all that they've done for him. He's even dedicated a post on his website explaining what feminism means to him — believing that women should have the opportunity to pick their owns path.

"It is beyond important that girls speak up, that they act fearlessly, that they fall in love with the timbre of their powerful voices."

Seth Meyers

Seth Meyers is one among other famous male feminists who believe that women should be offered bigger opportunities. Since most of the writers on late night shows are men, Meyers wants to give female writers their moment to shine and help out during the show.

"It's not just about hiring more women in the writers' room — it's about lending women a platform, no matter how many of them there are."

Will Smith

Will Smith is a true feminist for allowing his daughter Willow to cut her hair. As a feminist, he believes that he doesn't have the right to tell her what she must do with her body — it's her decision. If Smith continues to tell her what she should do with her body, in the future, she'll replace her father with some other man and she'll start listening to him when it comes to what she should do with her body.

"When you have a little girl, it's like how can you teach her that you’re in control of your body? If I teach her that I'm in charge of whether or not she can touch her hair, she's going to replace me with some other man when she goes out in the world. She can't cut my hair but that's her hair. She has got to have command of her body. So when she goes out into the world, she's going out with a command that is hers. She is used to making those decisions herself. We try to keep giving them those decisions until they can hold the full weight of their lives."

Daniel Radcliffe

Out of this list of famous male feminists, Daniel Radcliffe is definitely the one to constantly remind everyone that he's a passionate feminist. His view of feminism is that everyone should be treated equally.

“Well, I think I’m a feminist, just by the virtue of the fact that I believe in equal rights for everyone.”

The 14th Dalai Lama

As one of the most open-minded human beings, the Dalai Lama is a feminist who fights for women's rights. He believes that both males and females should fight together for peace in this world. No one should be treated differently, because everyone is living on the same planet — making us united.

“We need to work together. We need to protect the planet. With fear, harmony is impossible. We need trust. Trust is the basis of compassion. Distrust brings fear. Fear brings violence. Fear brings loneliness and depression. We all come from the same place. We are all brothers and sisters.”

Mark Ruffalo

Who doesn't love Mark Ruffalo? What makes us love him even more is that he's a famous male feminist who is passionate about his beliefs. He brings up his mother and her choices in life — proud that his mother listened to no one but herself when it came to decision making.

"My own mother fought to make herself more than a possession. She lived her life as a mother who chose when she would have children, and a wife who could earn a living if she so chose. I want my daughters to enjoy the same choice."
